For most sports there is a player who comes along who becomes a legend. A player who changes the game. A player who is better than everyone else in the league. It is fun to watch players like that and it is always sad when their time comes to an end. Years go by and sometimes their greatness is forgotten and at other times another legend comes to fill their predecessor's shoes.
This naturally leads to a debate: who is better? Lebron vs Jordan, Gretzky vs McDavid, Bonds vs Ruth. Arguing about who is the greatest player is usually a fun hypothetical that any die hard sports fan has participated in at some point. One never actually settles the argument by having the players go head to head. Next weekend for MLSB Alumni we will see two of the greatest hitters ๐ฅ do just that!
In one corner we have the current all-time homerun leader and a back-to-back alumni champion - Brennan. In the other corner we have the second all-time homerun leader Jack Romano. Only two home runs separate these two hitters. With both of them playing next weekend I would recommend walking around with a helmet โ๏ธ since they will be jacking bombs ๐ฃ out of the park!
This is the first alumni tournament Brennan is actually an alumni. So will see how he performs now that he hasnโt stepped on the Waterloo Diamonds in a year. Has he kept up his rigorous work out routine of 8 beers every Wednesday and Friday? Rumor has it that he still sleeps every night with his batting gloves on ๐งค.
As for Romano he will have a tough road ahead of him. First, he has to find a way to get the hell out of Calgary during the Stampede ๐. It has been a few years since he suited up for an alumni tournament so he will have to quickly find his old home run swing. The betting odds are stacked against him but one thing I have learned over the years is never beat against the GOAT ๐.
